well....i've recently noticed many comments about me losing my artistic style...

so here's a poll:

1) do you really think i'm losing my style and trying too hard to imitate other artists' styles?

or

2) do you think i'm okay?

or

3) do you think i should go back to my original style and stay with it and draw/create more OC's and only a little fan art?

please answer! i'm really disturbed...

I think you are an extremely talented artist. Yet, lately...you've been submitting textures, which I'm not to fond on. I, personally, think you should start drawing your own characters! I think it would be fun for you, hopefully!

valerie, as your best friend in like years, i'm saying this so you can improve your art work, got it? i agree with the person that commented first and you should just imagine things and draw them!! it may a bit hard cuz you can get artist block, but just try it. ^^

it depends on what you want. if you want to develop your style, learn other techniques, etc etc stay with original art. if you don't care about that, do fanart. i don't think fanart will help you grow as an artist because a lot of people have the tendency to "over reference" original works.

I have to agree with Anei-san there.
I think, in the pole wise, I would choose 1, 2, and 3.
Because they're all what I think your at at the moment.
And it also depends on what you think. ^-^

Over referencing is sometimes not good, because some people see it as not trusting your sense of artistic ablilty, and others sometimes take it as stealing.
I know your a good artist, and I think you should go back to imaginating.

Your OK using references, just take parts of it. Don't take the whole thing. I use reference a lot too. But make sure you take only part of it that you need help on.

Don't stress about it though. Your not the only person I met that had this problem. You don't need to listen to me or the other people, just do whatever you like, and whatever you think is right, mkay? Just relax. ^-^

hmmm, i personally don't think you can really "lose" your style unless you stop drawing, because if youre drawing, its in one style or another so therefore, you dont lose a style, you just start drawing in a new style sometimes, so pollwise, i think you're okay :]

However, (i know, bad grammar yadayada) I do kinda agree with the other commenters on the fanart thing. Sometimes, if you draw too much fanart, you tend to "forget" kind of. erghhh i dont know how to say this =_____=;; Like your imagination gets fat and lazy if you stop excercising it, and it makes you feel fat and uncreative (does that make any sense at all?). But basically, i think you're fine style'wize you tend to draw fanart in your own style anyways (besides the eyes/face).

Also, I do agree with BCR about referencing. Its good for pose and stuff, but it gets kinda iffy if youre just copying the picture. I don't think youre too bad about that though.

Most importantly though, its about how you feel. If you don't feel really satisfied with what you're right now, then do something different. If youre happy and you know it clap your hands *clapclap*... sorry bout that >___>, but if you like where youre going then keep on doing what you're doing. After all, its your artwork, not the community's. Like said by people above, you might want to try drawing something original, just to see how it feels. It can be really refreshing :]

P.S. I'm sorry if I sound like a Dr. Phil wannabe... too much... i dont know... sugar.. =____=

P.P.S. I'm also a huge hypocrite

i think u should stop worrying about ur style
and
u should draw what u think. for a while, i think it might be good to just not use any reference, not look at any other ppl's art and just DRAW so you can establish what's your current style without any influence :]

ahh so...you're sorta a neutral right?
